On Bright Wings experiential workshops use traditional supportive and creative therapy techniques such as art, music, dialogue and reenactment, guided imagery, and more to provide participants with active approaches for living fully and dying consciously. Workshops meet on 12 consecutive Thursdays.

Current workshops offered

On Bright Wings can offer support for dying, transition, and grief with the following workshops:

  • The Spices of Life--how to have a sweet and fully delicious life
  • Improv for Alzheimer's--enhancing well-being by living fully in the Here and Now (for caregivers and patients)
  • Dying Consciously--explores mortality and end-of-life issues
  • Healing and Rebuilding--a supportive journey for grief and loss.


On-going groups offered are

Advance Planning Classes: for end-of-life medical care and after-death wishes. Included in the tuition cost - 5 Wishes Advance Medical Directive booklet, Advance Death Directive booklet, and POLST form.
Pet Loss Support: an on-going group addressing the unique issues surrounding the loss of these important and beloved family members.
Death Cafe Santa Monica, hosted by On Bright Wings: Meets the first Thursday of every month. RSVP is required for this free event. From "At Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink coffee and tea, and discuss death. Our objective is to increase awareness of death with a view of helping people make the most of their (finite) lives."
Theatre at the Threshold: bedside life review and role play to guide and support the completing of the five tasks of dying and more.
